Organization of Business Intelligence
The advantage gained by companies using competence centers to coordinate their business intelligence initiatives

This report on the Organization of Business Intelligence is based on a worldwide survey examining the way in which a wide variety of companies set up project teams to co-ordinate their business intelligence implementations.
The goal of this survey was to identify the success factors of companies that used Business Intelligence Competence Centers (BICCs). In particular we looked at the perceived success of respondents’ BI initiatives as well as the composition of BICCs, the BICC’s range of duties and how BICCs adapt to the technical requirements of the organization. The report combines the results from our survey with incisive commentary from our team of expert analysts to compare companies with and without BICCs.
Based on real-world research findings, this report answers the following questions and many more:

  • Which areas of the business finance BI initiatives?
  • Who coordinates BI initiatives?
  • How are BICCs positioned within companies?
  • Can BICCs have a positive influence on end-users?
  • What is the BICC’s remit?
  • What are the skill sets required in a BICC?
  • What effect does a BICC effect have on end-user satisfaction and the success of a BI initiative?
